![]() LiveDevicesCompany Description:The ETAS GroupAfter its spin-off as a subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH in 1994, ETAS GmbH spent nine years expanding its market position on its own. In April 2003, ETAS acquired LiveDevices Ltd. located in York, Great Britain, and the US company Vetronix Corporation based in Santa Barbara, California, was taken over just three months later. The three companies ETAS, LiveDevices, and Vetronix and their regional offices around the globe now form the ETAS Group with 800 employees and company headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. The ETAS Group attained a revenue of 148 Mio. Euro in 2003. The companies were successful in their individual markets even before they came together as the ETAS Group - all three focus their products and services offerings for the automotive embedded systems market solely on the automotive industry and their suppliers. ETAS specializes in various development tools (software and hardware) for electronic control units in passenger cars and trucks. LiveDevices products, fast and powerful operating systems for automotive microprocessors, are closely related. Vetronix, however, is positioned differently: The company doesn't concentrate on the development environment, but instead supplies diagnostic tools for vehicle service. This new combination of development tools and diagnostics and service solutions is the basis of the Diagnostic LifeCycle Solutions™-Strategy, which realizes the ETAS Group's vision of diagnostic tools that span the entire life cycle of a vehicle. Reduction of development times, increased software quality and improved fault analysis are some of the positive effects of the new strategy. On the horizon are even newer processes, technologies, and solution approaches that are becoming possible now that the entire vehicle lifecycle is considered. In the long run, ETAS views itself as a strong industry partner, offering tools and software components for the three basic aspects of electronic control units: control functions, diagnostic functions and platform software components. Individualized engineering services for our customers and an emphasis on consulting, training, and support complete our portfolio. To become number one in the automotive software engineering market, however, required additional efforts such as our active cooperation in standards consortiums (e.g., ASAM, OSEK, Nexus, AUTOSAR), and the ISO 9001:2000 certification of ETAS GmbH in June 2004.
