N.A.T. presents a powerful and power saving AMC module for use in the industrial automation market

N.A.T., specialist for high-performance network interfaces and industrial computers, introduces its newest member of the family of AMC modules at Electronica 2008: the NAMC-8560-IO. Being based on a PowerQUICC III the NAMC-8560-IO meets the performance and power consumption requirements of customers in the industrial automation market, wanting to benefit from the advantages of MicroTCA.

The NAMC-8560-IO is equipped with an MPC8560 (667MHz or 1GHz) and provides 256 MByte memory, 32 MByte Flash. Additionally to a PCIexpress interface and a Gigabit-Ethernet interface at the backplane, another Gigabit-Ethernet interface is available at the front panel. Thus connections to cameras or EtherCAT-IO can be easily realized.

The MPC8560 can then process the acquired data and forward these by PCIexpress or Gigabit-Ethernet via the backplane.

For operation in the PCIexpress environment, the NAMC-8560-IO can be configured by an on-board switch to act as a system host (PCI Root Complex) or as slave.

Thus being the main processing entity the NAMC8560-IO can be easily combined with other AMC modules, i.e. such as for digital IO, ADC, DAC, ARINC. Multi processor systems can be built straightforward using the NAMC-8560-IO, too, i.e. one NAMC8560-IO as host and others as slave.

With its „NATIVE“ family of chassis, the N.A.T. MicroTCA Carrier Hub, interface AMCs carrier boards for PMC und IP modules in AMC form factor and „XLINK“ for the integration of PCI cards, N.A.T. offers all the building blocks in order to build cost effective and ready-to-run solutions for the industrial automation market.
