Summary: Connecting a NAND flash device to a micro, which does not have an integrated NAND controller, results in a significant additional load being placed on the target and introduces a performance bottleneck. V-NAND_FC can be implemented on a small CPLD and will remove this additonal burden from your target.
Full Text: V-NAND-FC is a full featured NAND flash controller for SLC type NAND flash devices. It is designed to be used with microcontrollers which do not have an integrated NAND flash controller. V-NAND-FC will take a significant CPU load from the host microcontroller by managing the NAND control lines and doing all ECC encode and decode.
Key Features:
Coded in VHDL
Verified on Xilinx XC9572XL CPLD
Portable to other programmable logic
Supports SLC NAND Flash
Integrated ECC Encoder/Decoder
Supports 1 bit error correction and 2 bit detection
Designed to work efficiently with almost any microcontroller
Significanltly reduces CPU load
Significantly increases throughput
NAND-FC can be used with any 8, 16 or 32 bit microcontroller.
HCC's FTL and SAFE file system products contain sample drivers for V-NAND-FC.
