N.A.T. the specialist in high performance connectivity products for data and communication solutions today introduces the newest member of its PMC telecom product range, the NPMC-STM1.

The NPMC-STM1 is targeted at telecom applications dealing with SDH (Synchronous Digital Hirachie), such as SS7, ISDN or 3G/3.5G mobile applications in optical OC-3/STM1 and SONET environments and offers full APS (Automatic Protection Swicthing) support.

The onboard add/drop multiplexer/demultiplexer chip makes the NPMC-STM1 an ideal single board platform to interface between the frame oriented STM-1/SDH networks and classic TDM (Time Division Multiplex) standards as E1/T1/J1. Possible applications are i.e. high density add/drop or terminal multiplexer as well as edge routers and digital modems or digital cross-connect systems.

The NPMC-STM1 provides two STM-1/OC3 optical fibre interfaces on standard SC-connectors at the front panel. The optical transceivers are available for single or multimode fibres.

The very efficient SDH-to-TDM cross mapping functionality enables the user to add and/or drop all 63 E1 or 84 T1/J1 payloads of an SDH/SONET frame. The onboard H.110 TDM bus controller allows flexible switching of 64kbps timeslots between the E1/T1/J1 streams as well as the selection of one of the E1/T1/J1 clocks as the master clock for the TDM backplane bus. The NPMC-STM1 fully supports the full H.110 bus (PTMC) or the SCBus subset on the PMC I/O connector.

The NPMC-STM1 is a P1386.1/Draft2.1 compatible PMC that can be plugged onto any VME, cPCI or other carrier board offering a PMC extension slot.
