Full Text: MEN Mikro Elektronik is introducing the P517 – a PMC-standard graphics module for industrial applications. For MEN, known as the inventor of ANSI mezzanine standards M-ModulesTM and PC•MIP, this graphics board is the foundation of its own PMC product range of industrial functions. MEN has offered its single-board computers with slots for PMCs, PC•MIPs or M-Modules, as needed, for several years now.
Industrial Graphics Based on PMC
The P517 is a PMC module featuring the 3D/2D graphics controller SM731 from Silicon Motion and was designed for visualization in industrial applications such as mechanical engineering or medical engineering. It has as maximum resolution of 1600 by 1200 pixels, 16.7 million colors, and a maximum refresh rate of 85 Hz. 16 MB of graphics memory and a 235-MHz, 24-bit RAMDAC are also integrated.
The P517 comes with different display capabilities. The graphics controller supports two independent digital displays, either with different or with identical screen displays (DualScreen). Two LVDS channels (112-MHz max pixel clock) can drive two separate panels (DualMon) or a single high-resolution UXGA panel. The module can control LCD/TFT, CRT and TV screens.
The P517 provides a DVI-I (Digital Video Interface) for analog and digital LCD and CRT screens via its front-panel connector. It also provides an S-Video input and output, and a Composite Video output. In addition, the PanelLink function is accessible through DVI-I. The two LVDS channels are supported via an onboard connector on the P517 and the rear I/O connector on the carrier board.
As a PMC module the P517 can be used in a flexible way on all kinds of system platforms such as VMEbus, CompactPCI, PXI, or bus-independent.
