StarCore LLC
Last updated: August 7, 2008
Company Description:
StarCore LLC was formed in June of 2002 and opened its doors for business on October 1, 2002 as a stand-alone venture, commencing an innovative strategy to develop and license digital signal processor (DSP) core technologies for use in a wide variety of communications and consumer products.
StarCore's heritage reaches back to 1998 when the StarCore Technology Center (SCTC) was formed as an alliance between Motorola and Agere Systems to develop next generation DSP core technology and software tools. The charter of the SCTC was to provide this leading edge technology to the two partners, Motorola and Agere Systems for their use in their System-on-Chip DSP solutions for communications applications such as wireless base stations, multi-channel access systems, and hand held communication devices. The StarCore™ technology has been successful in that there are multiple high performance StarCore-based SOC products available today from both partners, and more on the way.
In 2002, Motorola and Agere Systems teamed up with Infineon Technologies AG to establish the new StarCore, which was chartered to evolve the StarCore technology and to license it in the open market. Agere, Infineon, and Motorola conduct "arm's length" business with StarCore and license StarCore technology like any other customer.
