The company was founded in 1998 with funding from ATEP Ventures, Royal Bank Ventures, Scottish Equity Partners and a number of private investors. Scapa Technologies now employs 20 people and has approximately 200 customers including Deutsche Bank, Standard Life, Anglian Water, ComCast, Cerner (for the NHS) and IBM.
