Source Dynamics, Inc. was started in 1994 to further develop and publish Source Insight - a premier program editor and browser. Source Insight began as an internal editing tool developed to be used at a top PC software company. Source Insight was used internally to help author some of the world's most successful and complex application software.

Source Insight version 2.0 was released in March of 1996. Version 2.1 was released as a free upgrade in October of 1996.

Source Insight version 3.0 was released in November of 2000. Version 3.0 included many requested features and innovations.
