The company had its inception as System Engineering Laboratories (SEL) in 1961, earning a reputation for itself by providing high-security systems for use with mission-critical, real-time applications. In 1980, SEL was acquired by Gould Electronics, becoming their Computer Systems Division. Encore itself was formed in 1983 with the mission of creating massively scalable systems, using technologically innovative infrastructures and skill sets to incorporate open systems, merchant microprocessors, and parallel technologies. In 1988 Gould was acquired by Nippon Mining and Encore Computer Corporation purchased the Gould Computer Systems Division. In 1998 Gores Technology acquired Encore Computer Corporation and renamed it Encore Real-Time Computing, Inc. In 2002, Compro purchased Encore RTC.

Compro was known world wide for comprehensive multi-vendor Logistics and Support Services and in the Computer and Simulation Sector for Flight Simulators since 1985. Compro continues to set new standards for speed, determinism, scalability, and dependability. Every Compro product and solution is designed to offer the highest return of performance to cost in its class.

Today, Compro is an international supplier to the Flight Simulator, Data Acquisition, and Transportation and Energy markets and to original equipment manufacturers and integrators (such as Boeing, Lockheed, Thales, EADS, etc.) who serve those markets. Compro develops legacy interfaces and integrates COTS hardware and software that are demanded by today’s most challenging Real-Time environments. Compro’s products are involved in open systems, integration for data acquisition and the energy and transportation sectors, legacy migration, and flight simulation solutions.
