Submitting an article:

Each issue of Dedicated Systems e-Magazine deals with different themes e.g. Buses (VME, PCI,...), RTOS, Tools (design, debugging, hardware analyzers, emulators,...), Real-Time Networks, Safe systems, Security issues and much more. Our mission is to the provide the latest information about state-of-the-art technologies.

We are interested in receiving technical articles which are predominantly educational in nature. Articles should describe how to use a specific product or technology; what type of application it was designed for and what it was not, in what way is it different from the competition? Other type of articles are application notes, papers explaining company strategies towards the use of a specific technology, market overviews...

How to proceed?
If you are interested in a specific topic, then send us a proposal or summary of your article for that theme. If you have a white paper available, send a copy by e-maile-mail me

Article guidelines:
The article should have MINIMUM 1,500 words to be able to go into enough detail (there is no real maximum). You should include diagrams and pictures where possible to illustrate the text. Articles should be sent by e-mail (in MS Word or other text format).
The article will be published in different ways:

  • a short version (will be printed in the paper version of the magazine and on-line) - should include an overview of the article and the conclusions.
  • a full version which will be typeset by us and included in PDF format on the website and on the included CD which goes with the paper version

In order to achieve this, you should include the following with the draft:

  • The article title
  • The author's name, company name and job title.
  • An abstract or summary of the article (approx. 100 words).
  • A short version of the article which is a long abstract  including conclusions  (approx. 500 words).
  • The full article text. Try to divide the paper into chapters / sections (no numbering required). You may provide headlines to mark important statements.
  • Illustrations: each diagram should be numbered and or titled with a short text. They should be delivered in an editable graphic format such as a Bitmap (bmp, tiff, jpeg) or a Vectorized graphic (Corel Draw, Illustrator, EPS).
  • A short biography of the author (5 to 10 lines)
  • A list of any references used.
  • Full contact information including company address(es) and a company profile to be provided via the "player's" section of our website.
Requirements for graphics in Dedicated Systems Magazine:

Bitmaps must be large enough! For example: a bitmap for a 1 column (3,5 inch) would require 1050 pixels to be printed at full quality. Larger prints require more pixels. Never resize your bitmaps. That is something we can do ourselves and it doesn't improve the quality, on the contrary!!
Screenshots can be an exception on the resolution-rule. But be sure that you never up-or downscale or resize screenshots!! Put the resolution of your screen to the maximum possible before taking the screenshot.
Vector illustrations are best kept in their native format if that exists (editable EPS, AI or CDR or WMF)+ a copy of them included in the Word-document. Else we'll see what we can do if your graphics are only included in your Word document.
Please do not send us gaphics that you can't even see properly on your own screen!!
Photos should be send in high quality JPG - RGB format - minimum 300 dpi.

Submission of articles is free of charge. The final decision to publish any article remains with the chief-editor.
