MontaVista(tm) Fast Boot - Linux boots in 1 second or less at
the Embedded Masterclass
MontaVista to demonstrate Linux booting in 1 second or less at
the UK Embedded Masterclass http://www.embedded-masterclass.com,
Cambridge May 7th, Bristol May 12th. ..
MontaVista Fast Boot is a Linux technology that allows you
instantly display your real world critical data on the screen in 1 second
or less.
Why it is that so important? Because it is an imperative
in most safety critical applications mainly found in Automotive,
Industrial or Mil/Aero domains to have your vital system data available to
the user instantly after the system is powered. It could be engine check
or gear info in a car, temperature and pressure readings for power plant
or sonar data on a plane. It means that you have appropriate interfaces
enabled and functional within 1 second, and be able to supply real data to
update your graphics within 1 second. For example this could be drivers
like CAN/MOST bus for automotive or ARINC/MIL1533 in the aerospace case.

ccPMC-SpaceWire: SpaceWire with "Rad Hard" FLASH Option
ccPMC-SpaceWire is the conduction cooled version of the
popular Dynamic Engineering SpaceWire interface. The FLASH memory has an
option to be populated with a Radiation Hardened device. The four
independent channels ha...
SpaceWire is available on multiple platforms with PMC, PCI,
PC104p, PCI-104, and now ccPMC versions. Solutions for cPCI and VME are
available using the PMC and ccPMC versions with a PMC
carrier.
CcPMC-SpaceWire utilizes internal cooling planes along
with thermal pads to provide conduction paths to the thermal rib
interface. Industrial temperature parts are standard.
In some
environments being "rad hard" is a plus. The FPGA FLASH has an option to
be upgraded to a Rad Hard device to help in this area. While the entire
board is not Rad Hard; the overall ability to handle radiation is greatly
enhanced. NASA is currently doing testing with a Cyclotron to characterize
the hybrid approach.
ccPMC-SpaceWire retains the standard features
of the Dynamic Engineering Sp... |

Blunk Microsystems
FAT File System Update from Blunk
Blunk announces a new release of its high performance embedded
FAT file system...
Blunk Microsystems, a leading embedded software provider,
announces the 2009 release of TargetFAT. Sublicensed to multiple handset
providers and used worldwide in cell phones and other applications, the
2009 release of TargetFAT provides a long list of features specifically
targeting embedded applications.
- High performance: For reasonable
cluster sizes, the TargetFAT read/write throughput is approximately the
same as the underlying I/O speed of the backing media and heads the list
in user benchmarks.
- Full POSIX/Standard C API plus numerous
user-requested additions: getpath(), readdir_open(), readdir_stat(),
seekmark(), shred(), stat_set(), unlink_all(), vsync(), MBR read/write
(including extended DOS partitions), volume label read/write.
