TenAsys Corporation

TenAsys adds enhanced Ethernet driver interface to INtime 3.1 for real-time Ethernet fieldbus applications

The new high performance Ethernet interface for INtime RTOS applications improves real-time performance by reducing latency and eliminating jitter.
..

Nürnberg, Germany - November 27, 2007 -- TenAsys Corp. (www.tenasys.com), a leading provider of real-time OS software and virtualization technology, today announced the addition of their high performance Ethernet (HPE) driver interface to version 3.1 of the company´s INtime real-time operating system. This unique API features a driver interface that allows Ethernet packet buffers to be directly managed within the real-time application´s memory space. By using the HPE interface, developers are able to bypass the TCP/IP stack and tailor the number, size, type, and scheduled delivery times of Ethernet packets to meet their specific application needs.

Ethernet packets are accessed directly via a simple hardware-independent API. The new HPE interface eliminates packet copy o...

MEN Mikro Elektronik GmbH

New 2eSST VMEbus Single-Board Computer with PowerPC MPC8548

MEN Mikro Elektronik was introducing a new 6U VMEbus single-board computer at SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2007 in Nuremberg. The A17 is built around Freescale's new MPC8548 with clock frequencies of up to 1.5 GHz. Due to the 2eSS...

Fast and powerful due to 2eSST and MPC8548

MEN's new PowerPC based A17 VMEbus SBC is based on an MPC8543 or MPC8548 with up to 1.5 GHz from Freescale. On the inside this PowerQUICC-III family processor consists of a highly integrated e500 core with an FPU, MMU and with L2 cache support.
The A17 is a single-board computer specially designed for embedded applications and can act both as a master or slave in a legacy VMEbus environment. Using the new Tundra TSI148 bridge controller the A17 supports fast data throughput using 2eSST while also maintaining backwards compatibility with older standards such as VME64 and VME32. The 2eSST protocol is based on synchronous data transfer and thus doubles the theoretical VME transaction bandwidth to up to 320 MB/s.
At its front the ...

HCC-Embedded

Bootloaders for USB Device MicroControllers

HCC has announced a range of Bootloaders designed for microcontrollers with USB device functionality.

..

HCC bootloaders are used to update and upgrade application code in a target device, either during product development or later on when field updates are necessary.

At the heart of the system is HCC´s portable Bootloader, which can work in as a little as 4K code space on an ARM7 processor. The Bootloader is intended to be fixed in the product, allowing reliable upgrade of an embedded device without any risk of overwriting or destroying the bootloader.

On the host application side developers have several options for downloading to a new device. Free sample code can be provided that operates with libusb or with HCC´s USB Embedded Pipe. Alternatively the user can develop the application using a generic USB interface such as WinUSB.

Supported targets inclu...

XMC and Conduction-Cooled PMC - New Mezzanine Cards Based on FPGA

Right on time for Embedded World 2008 in Nuremberg MEN Mikro Elektronik is coming up with another two mezzanine cards with FPGA functionality. The two FPGA based modules introduced one year ago - the P599 PMC and M199 M-...

Flexible I/O Configuration Thanks to FPGA Technology
The USMT concept allows to realize even unusual I/O combinations on very small space for moderate volumes and at low cost. For this purpose, the P699 main XMC comes with a CycloneT III FPGA with 24,624 LE, and the conduction-cooled P598 main PMC features a CycloneT II with 33,216 LE. P699 and P598 get their specific function through the choice of the desired IP cores. This function can be changed at any time through the use of different IP cores, without any hardware modifications to the main module. The corresponding line drivers are implemented on a submodule which must be designed individually for each application and which is plugged onto the main XMC or main PMC. The main module also has 32 MB of DDR2 SDRAM main memory and up to...
