Summary: Fawtwel has recently announced its new CPU card CPC502 development designed in CompactPCI 3U format based on 2,0 Ghz high performance Intel Pentium M processor. This card is designed for various applications: industrial automation, mission critical application and instrumentation systems.
Full Text: Currently this board is one of the best solutions available on the market. Standard configuration of CPC502 is the following: 1,6 GHz Intel Pentium M processor, 400 MHz system bus, 512Mb PC333 DDR SDRAM, - which allows to solve high demanding tasks. Newest set of Intel 855GME/Hance Rapid ICH system logic guarantees unique performance of the card. Video system supports standard CRT monitors as well as LCD flat panels having the resolution up to 2048x1536 pixels, audio controller complies with АС´97 2,3 standard.
Data storage subsystem consists of solid-state 32MB disk soldered on the board, whereon real-time OS such as Windows CE, QNX or Linux and high-performance interfaces for external data storage can be installed. There is a CompactFlash slot, allowing to use cards up to 8 GB in size if a bigger capacity of solid state data storage is required. Besides the regular EIDE UATA/100 interface, this card is equipped with double-channel SerialATA providing up to 150Mb/s in speed. Standard floppy disk interface, which simplifies the card´s debugging in laboratory and field conditions, is also included.
Communication set of CPC502 interfaces also corresponds with the latest demands in computer and telecommunication spheres. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports provide high communication speed between computing platform and global automation system, 4 serial and 5 USB 2.0 ports allow connectivity with any peripheral devices. The old good LTP-port, which is still in use in some embedded systems, is also on board.
CPC502 also supports very special functions such as hardware self test system, redundant BIOS, settings storage in BIOS and PROM, real-time clock and watchdog timer, which ensures a high degree of the card´s reliability in mission critical applications. Thanks to the mounted solid state disk and soldered RAM this device can withstand a very heavy vibration – up to 5G and shocks up to 50G
CPC502 compiles with PICMG 2.0 standard (3.0 version) and supports PXI specification (2.1 revision). Elaborate design of mezzanine modules allows the same set of cards use both for CompactPCI 3U and PXI systems.
CPC502 is adapted to harsh environment and its operating temperature lies between –40C and +85C. For smaller budget systems, used in standard temperature range (ex: in controlling systems), inexpensive version of this card is supplied, which operates at temperatures from 0 to +70C.
